Accessibility: Provision and Constraints

The Commonwealth Disability Discrimination Act 1992 makes it illegal to discriminate, both directly or indirectly, against a person because of disability when providing goods, services or facilities, or access to public premises.

This includes providing equal opportunity for people of all abilities to access tourism services and activities and ensuring that accessible infrastructure/equipment meets the requirements for mobility and access set within the National Construction Code.

Habitat Noosa is committed to ensure that barriers to access and inclusion are addressed appropriately, and our friendly customer service team are happy to assist our Guests and visitors with any enquiries or requests.

Habitat Noosa is committed to ensuring our business develops strategies to improve accessibility and appeal to a wider range of visitors of all abilities and ages.

We utilise QTIC Typsy Training to provide accessibility awareness training to our staff as we recognise that accessibility needs can include parents with young children and or prams, elderly, vison impaired, hearing impaired, Injured persons or sensory issues.

 The property caters to guests with physically disabilities and mobility needs by ensuring:

  • That all common areas are wheelchair accessible,
  • Providing a dedicated disabled toilet/shower facility.
  • Disability carparking is located adjacent reception
  • We have implemented an ordering system in the CootharaBAR “Mr Yum” – that enables customers with mobility or any other special needs to order their meals from their table.

Powered and unpowered camp sites which cater best to guests with mobility needs are identified. However, we do not have any accessible tents or cabins on-site available for guests to book.

Habitat Noosa will provide information to guests when required to outline which of the campsites and facilities at the park are accessible friendly.
